Bastille Day
14 July 2026
Today we pause in our 250th celebration to honor the country that gave us our shining beacon of liberty.
We celebrate with Spaendonck, Redouté and Bessa, who painted the vélins; Chazal's Flore Pittoresque; L'Anglois' Livre; Malesherbes' manuscript translation in Huntia and a letter; la Pérouse's letter; and in our General Autograph Collection letters from Bory de Saint-Vincent, Bougainville, Buffon, Cuvier, Delacroix de Contaut, Duhamel du Monceau, Quéne Duhamel, Durand, A. L. Jussieu, B. Jussieu, Lacépède, Lamarck, F.-A. Michaux, Louis Claude Marie Richard, Séguier and Tournefort.
Happy Bastille Day!
