Database redesign and development

14 August 2024

The Hunt Institute is excited to launch the first of several new versions of our online databases. Our software developers built a new system to host and display our data, providing more control over how the data is managed, interconnected and made accessible. This new system will be under ongoing development to enhance its capabilities and add more features over time.

Most of our current databases are in the process of being migrated to the new system. The first is the Index to Binomials Cited in the First Edition of Linnaeus' Species Plantarum. This database lists all binomials cited in the first edition of Carolus Linnaeus' Species Plantarum (1753) and provides links to the relevant digitized pages of the publication on the Biodiversity Heritage Library's site.

We look forward to releasing more updated databases in the coming months and to adding new features and functionality over the coming years. The public interfaces to our data will continue to be modernized and enhanced as we improve this new system. Please accept our invitation to look at the new and improved Index to Binomials Cited in the First Edition of Linnaeus' Species Plantarum.
