Issued to commemorate the opening of the Strandell Collection of Linnaeana at the Institute, this book included a preface by Gilbert S. Daniels (director, 1970–1977), a biography of Carolus Linnaeus (1707–1778) and an account of Swedish Linnaean collections by Birger Strandell (1901–1993), and an English translation of Linnaeus' anonymous Orbis eruditi judicium de Caroli Linnaei M.D. scriptis [1741] with a facsimile of the Orbis eruditi in an endpaper pocket.
