This illustrated exhibition catalogue included descriptions, commentary and reproductions of 88 works representing the best of botanical art from the 17th century to the present, with a historical introduction by John Brindle (1911–1991; curator of art, 1961–1982). Also accompanying the exhibition was Mourning Iris and English Iris, a full-color reproduction of a painting by Georg Dionys Ehret (1708–1770), 1745, 20 x 28".
