Albrecht von Haller

(1708–1777) [Hall.]


This Swiss botanist and physiologist sought a comprehensive taxonomy. While Haller rejected the simplicity of Linnaeus’ system, Linnaeus drew frequently from Haller’s work on cryptogams.
