Johann Bauhin

(1541–1612) [Bauh.]

A Swiss physician, this older brother of Gaspard left his legacy in his Historia Plantarum Universalis, published posthumously in 1650–1651. This was the first international flora with illustrations and good diagnoses and synonymy, covering 5,226 plants and remaining a useful reference up to the time of Linnaeus.

When Linnaeus cites Bauh. epit., he's referring to Johann Bauhin (1541–1612), Historia Plantarum Universalis ... (Yverdon, 1650–1651).
